BOGE XIAO · PORTFOLIO
A more welcoming way to read.
The text, images, and navigation should leave room for different ways of experiencing this site.
READ AT YOUR OWN PACE
Reading preferences
Choose a larger text size, high contrast, a calmer color theme, visible image descriptions, or reduced motion. Your preferences stay on this browser.
Keyboard and screen readers
Use the “Skip to content” link to move past the navigation. Pages have a single main heading, named navigation areas, and a reading order that follows the visible layout. The image viewer supports Previous, Next, and Escape; closing it returns to the image you opened.
Images and original records
Photographs have text alternatives. You can also show their descriptions below the images. The newspaper articles are readable text, not pictures of pages. Conceptual illustrations are labeled as AI-generated.
What still needs work
The two original field videos do not yet have verified captions or transcripts. Their accompanying written stories provide context, but are not substitutes for a complete transcript. Small manuscript photographs also cannot replace an accessible scholarly transcription. This site has not had a formal accessibility audit.
