Making texts readable
On the Shidian Ancient Books platform, I arrange, transcribe, collate, and translate ethnic manuscripts—transforming dispersed voices into searchable, readable, and teachable knowledge.
My original website describes Shidian as an open-access platform developed and operated by the Peking University–ByteDance Open Laboratory for Digital Humanities, using tools such as OCR, layout analysis, and annotation.
A workflow of careful reading
Catalog & metadata → Layout analysis → Diplomatic & normalized transcription → Collation & annotation → Reciprocity.
Each stage places the manuscript in a different relationship with its readers: as an identifiable object, as a structured page, as a transcription, and as an interpreted text.
Project description adapted from my original website and current CV.
