Analysis in the August edition
Modern Vietnamese is used to annotate the pronunciation of Zhuang characters, making the text readable again for later readers. The central mechanism is reactivation; the annotations cannot be used to infer the underlying manuscript's place of origin.
Evidence limits and unresolved readings
The blue Vietnamese writing supplies pronunciations for Zhuang characters. The available record says that these annotations do not themselves convey Vietnamese lexical meanings.
