The English commentary accompanies the preserved Chinese record. Quoted historical wording and unidentified characters are retained; candidate readings remain provisional.

Dating candidates in the August edition
Provisionally 1941; a conditional judgment.
Dating rationale
If 辛已 should be read as xinsi (辛巳), the candidates are 1881 and 1941. If ‘Cao Bằng province—Bảo Lạc zhou’ is a contemporary address in the same layer, 1941 is more plausible. Withdraw that preference if the cyclical date or place formula was added later or carried over.

Historical geography and its limits
Đại Nam → Cao Bằng province → Bảo Lạc zhou → 南ⅩX [incomplete]. Comparison with A21 is appropriate only if the original page confirms 南光总 (Nam Quang canton). Do not supply it now.
