Edition & evidence
This is the corrected August working catalogue, not a final physical bibliography. Later September re-readings are presented separately in the GSS research dossier. Dating candidates, locations, interpretations, and unresolved readings are preserved as distinct evidence layers.
The English commentary accompanies the preserved Chinese record. Quoted historical wording and unidentified characters are retained; candidate readings remain provisional.
Working tags
Zhuang writing · Five- / seven-syllable lines · Breaking open hell · Deliverance of the dead · Vietnamese annotations · Ancestral geography · Anomalous address
Names and recorded roles
Jiangxia; Motong (江夏 麽通), with 記 (ji). The name reading follows the working record.
Date as written
Not found in the available record.
Dating candidates in the August edition
Undetermined.
Dating rationale
No internal date is found in the available record. The geographical formula is itself anomalous and cannot establish a date retrospectively.
Confidence in the August edition
Undetermined.
Place formula as written
Written formula: 大清国越安平府保乐川属下某村. It juxtaposes ‘Great Qing’, 越, Anping prefecture, ‘Baole chuan’, and an unspecified village; the political and administrative sequence is unresolved.
Historical geography and its limits
The hierarchy and political affiliation within 大清国越安平府保乐川属下某村 are anomalous. Historically, Anping prefecture / Bảo Lạc zhou may relate to older Tuyên Quang divisions, but 大清国越 and 川 require checking against the original characters. This edition does not force them into an apparently complete but unverified address. Jiangxia is separately coded as ancestral / lineage geography.
Textual features
Five- or seven-syllable lines centred on breaking open hell and deliverance. Includes ritual images / talismans and modern Vietnamese annotations.
Analysis in the August edition
The anomalous address and modern Vietnamese annotations make this a methodological case: complex clues must not be assembled too quickly into a route. Public presentations can show the original wording, candidate segmentations, and the deliberate retention of uncertainty.
Evidence limits and unresolved readings
Preserve the anomalous geographical formula and list alternative possibilities. Do not manufacture a single ‘correct address’.
